If you have known me for any long length of time...beware!!! I have been "cleaning" out things and have come across some old pictures and albums with some doosies of some of you in them. I am talking Mexico trip days in youth group, or old family camps, and plenty more. So, periodically I will scan a new (old) picture in that will be a "BLAST FROM THE PAST"!!!! Be praying, some of them aren't so pretty! Hoooooaaaaaahhhhhh (that is a scary evil laugh if you couldn't tell!)

Is there anything that is more beautiful and breathtaking then these two??? Of coarse I know that all of you mothers think that about your children, but sometimes I am just taken back by how beautiful my children are!

The girls' bedroom. While Matthew and I were up in Portland for a few days of alone time, we came across this store in Tigard called Goodnight Room where we saw these butterflies. I fell in love with them and brought them home to put up in the girls room. Mattie just keeps pointing at them and saying "ooohhh".

Our living room. Still have some changes...crown molding, changing the color of the entertainment center, and more wall decorations. My little pictures just look so lonely on the wall.

The best for last!!! I absolutely LOVE how our kitchen turned out. Of coarse we still have a counter top to replace and crown molding to add, as well as decor up on top of the cabinets, but I am extremely happy with the results! Your thoughts???

Oh, we have been non stop painting since yesterday. It is almost 11pm and I am wasting time so that I can put a second coat on. Unfortantely, there is no paint on the walls yet!!! We decided to get rid of the UGLY oak kitchen cabinets and paint them black!!! Yes, black! But before they could get black paint on them, we had to take them all down, clean them, puddy them, sand them, prime them and then...finally paint them. I have about half of them done. We are wanting to put them up tomorrow, so they need to be good and dry. I have to say, that we are oh so glad that we went with black. It is not your usual choice for kitchen cabinets, but we are really liking it! When it is all done and pretty I will certainly post a picture for you all to look at and decide whether you like it or not. But go ahead and tell me you love it either way...God forgives that kind of lying :)

Back to painting!!

Well, I am sad to say that our trip to the Philippines (we were supposed to leave tomorrow morning) has been cancelled. A series of unfortunate events has resulted in our entire teams trip being cancelled. To make a long story short, yesterday we had some bad news from our travel agent, or I should say, we had some bad news from the airline as we were confirming our flights and times, in which they said we are "reserved" but our tickets had not been paid for yet, and we would have until NOON TODAY to pay for them or else we would lose them. So immediately we are calling our travel agent in which we entrusted many thousands of dollars MONTHS ago to purchase our tickets. We are not really sure what happened to the money we sent her, but it is gone - by her own admission and fault. So, she is unable to pay for our tickets now which means, we are NOT going to the Philippines. It is still sinking in with all of us. When you have planned for 6 months for a huge trip and less than 2 days from leaving you find out this bad news, you have purchased everything, started or finished packing, planned for yourself to be gone for 16 days, and then it all comes to a screeching hault. But in the midst of our disappointment and frustration with this travel agent, we are at peace knowing that our God has His hand in this mix. We knew that this was not big at all for Him to pull a miracle if we were meant to go, and at the same time, we still believe that we shall see a miracle in the sense of why it ended up the way it did. Needless to say, I probably cannot say much more due to the courts most likely getting involved to prosecute. So, we will still send our girls up to my parents for a week and Matthew and I will take a few days for ourselves and then come home and take advantage of the time we have to work on our home with the girls gone.

Thank you all for your prayers...I am positive they worked. I know that God is in control of all.

If you haven't noticed by now, I have been having a difficult time saying goodbye to my blog. I keep saying that you won't hear from me until I get back from the Philippines, and then, BAM, here I am again, creating another extremely exciting and riviting post for all of you to read. It is like a magnet, drawing me back to it every chance it can get! Anyways, no promises of last goodbyes this time, just checking in to say hi and that I LOVE MY NEW HOUSE!!!!! What I really look forward to is getting home and making it look like "the Schlesinger's home".

I LOVE to paint, not like artistically...that I cannot do at all, but paint the walls, bring color to an offwhite world! I have been laying in bed at night and that is all I think about. How about browns, no reds, no blues, and on and on the color schemes go. And now that we have cable, I feel it necessary to watch HGTV so that I can be sure that the colors I choose and the look I am going for will not look horrible when all said and done. The problem I have with HGTV is that with every show comes a whole new idea for me, a new look, and now my mind is just filled with so many "styles" that I can't decide. Do I sound incredibly shallow or what?! But, to me, the look of my home is important. It creates an atmosphere (to an extent), as well as gives friends and guests an impression of what we are about. Are we bold and exciting, are we safe and boring, are we weird, are we simplistic, are we scatterbrained, are we messy and disorganized. Your home, or atleast my home, I feel, gives people an instant insight into who I am and what kind of woman I am. Any women out there feel the same way??? Anyways, all that to say, when I do finally get home and do finally decide on some colors, I will be sure to get pictures for you all to see.

So, ta ta for now.

Mattie found a snail outside one day and picked it up! She loved pushing into it's shell. That slime was SOOO hard to get off of her hands, but was what harder was to get the snail out of her hands. She held on really...really tight. R.I.P. Mr. Snail :(

I am about to leave work, which is the only place we have internet access right now. We are moved in to our new house!!! Yeah!!!! I love pools! Anyways, we are leaving for the Philippines on Sunday, so we have got a lot to do between now and then.
I just wanted you to all know that the official winner of my poll for funniest MC Grad is my beloved brother Steve (as you can see by his blog). He really IS funny! Even if he voted for himself religiously every day. Okay, I am exaggerating...every other day!

So, I know that Steven was planning on using my next poll as his own, but I came up with the idea first, so now it is on my blog. Sorry Steve! So cast your votes for the corniest (not horniest) Stratton. (I am sure that just got me a few votes right there.....huh?.......did it?.....you know you want to laugh!

Bon Voyage or hasta lavista for now! Maybe I will get a chance to blog in the Philippines, but don't count on it.

Love you all, and we would love your prayers, for Matthew and myself and the girls safety as we are all apart from one another.
